What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing is the promotion of products or brands via one or more forms of electronic media and differs from traditional marketing in that it involves the use of channels and methods that enable an organization to analyze marketing campaigns and understand what is working and what isn’t – typically in real time.

What is page ranking?

PageRank is an algorithm used by the Google search engine to measure the authority of a webpage. While the details of PageRank are proprietary, it is generally believed that the number and importance of inbound links to that page are a significant factor.

Page ranking is the idea that your website climbs as it becomes more credible. How do you become an online authority? Entice users to visit your site because every time someone visits your website, Google counts it as a vote. Someone shares one of your posts? That’s another vote. Votes build your website’s credibility and help you climb the ladder to page.

What’s the Best Way To Get Your Website Ranked?

  1. Post relevant content often For example, if you’re designing a website around selling custom glasses, make sure that you’re posting information that is related to the purpose of your website such as the newest material being used for spectacles. The reason being, Google crawls the internet constantly looking for credible material to rank. If the content in your website is credible, you will rank well on Google. This isn’t the only factor, but it’s a major one.
  2. Use your keyword often  If you want to attract people looking for black trim reading glasses, make sure that your e-commerce website uses “black trim reading glasses” often throughout the page.
  3. Use outbound and inbound links Outbound links are links in your website that take you to another website to view information. The key to these is that you use credible sources for your outbound links. Inbound links or backlinks are links from another website to your website. The best way to utilize a backlink is try to get it on a credible website. You can do this by writing a guest post or simply commenting on a blog and posting a link. A 500 word post should contain anywhere from 4-6 outbound links.
  4. Generate media that encourages the user to use your website Posting videos, optimizing photos, and using relevant diagrams are all important factors in page ranking.
